What makes a Good Instrumentalist?

(image source: Drowz - Deviant Art)

There are so many factors that make a good instrumentalist, but I'll name just a few:
  • Reverence for God: I hardly hear of any instrumentalist who did not pray to God to send opportunities their way when they were starting out, or who didn't start from the Church. It's in God you find lasting happiness and fulfillment. Make a committment to serve with the fruit of your instrument.
  • Interest in going the extra mile: If you do what others are doing, how do you stand out? Yes, I know, start from the base....But don't remain there!!!
  • Practising and rehearsing like crazy: "But I know some instrumentalists who don't rehearse the way I do, but they perform better than I do", you might say. You see, they've built a "musical vocabulary" over time in their heads. It started with them rehearsing CONSTANTLY.
  • Improving the quality of knowledge about your instrument: It might be surprising, but I might know more than you do about your instrument. #winks
Wouldn't like to bore you with too much talk. I hope we've put certain things  in mind. Please don't forget to give your own opinions. It's a shedder's world.. Keep shedding, keep jamming.
